While I mostly write for myself, I also create original works and arrangements on commssion.
I really enjoy writing for musicians or groups through commissions as it tends to focus my thoughts and provide me with a time line to work towards. Many great ideas have flowed from research into the requirements of commission work.
I have worked with both individuals and organisations including Victorian Opera, Melbourne Brass Ensemble, Ars Musica Australis, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra Education Department, the Essendon Football Club and the Australian government. I have also worked with numerous schools, churches and professional musicians.
I tend to be quite flexible with my approach to commissioned projects and have no set rules for how I work. Every client has unique needs and I try to cater for them wherever possible. I do however like to consult over the phone, at least initially, so that I can really understand what is required before I start work on a project.
